I purchased an Envy 6452 printer sold from a person that said it was brand new. I bought it still in the box but opened, had ink cartridges installed and no paperwork/instructions inside, after I got home I realized this might not be “new” as the seller said.
When I powered on it was blinking blue Wi-Fi and blinking EO code. I did multiple resets as in pushing Wi-Fi and cancel button for time elites, I have pushed cancel, Wi-Fi and power button for 20 secs, I have pushed cancel and Wi-Fi fir 5 secs, powered off, then pressed Wi-Fi cancel again while turning printer on.
I have reset Wi-Fi button in back, I have unplugged and relocated closer to my Wi-Fi boxes. It eventually gave  me a solid Wi-Fi. Tried printing didn’t work, now it’s a solid Wi-Fi in blue, blinking EO and a yellow blinking light on side panel

I have spent over 4 hours trying to get this up and running. I’m not to savvy when it comes to doing this, so I will need step by step guidance please.

thank you so very much!

@WendyH72, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out, and I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you’re having with your Envy 6452. Based on your description, it sounds like the printer may have been previously set up or used, and it’s now stuck in a partial setup or error state. Let’s walk through a step-by-step guide to reset and properly set up your printer.

Perform a Full Factory Reset

This will clear any previous setup and restore the printer to its original state.

  1. Turn on the printer.
  2. Press and hold the Wireless button and Cancel button together for 10 seconds.
  3. The printer should restart or show a change in the display. Wait for it to complete the reset.

If this doesn’t work, try this alternate method:

  • Unplug the printer.
  • Press and hold Power + Cancel + Wireless while plugging it back in.
  • Hold for 10–15 seconds until the printer resets.

Reconnect to Wi-Fi

  • Once reset, the printer should show a blinking blue light, indicating it’s in setup mode.
  • Download the HP Smart app on your phone or PC: HP Smart
  • Open the app and click “Set up a new printer.”
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

Make sure your phone or PC is connected to the same Wi-Fi network you want the printer to use.

Check for Firmware Updates

Sometimes older firmware can cause setup issues.

  1. In the HP Smart app, go to Printer Settings > Advanced Settings > Tools > Printer Updates.
  2. Install any available updates.

Check and Reinstall Ink Cartridges

  1. Open the cartridge access door.
  2. Remove both cartridges.
  3. Inspect for:
    • Protective tape still on the copper contacts or ink nozzles.
    • Dust or ink buildup, gently clean with a lint-free cloth.
  4. Reinsert cartridges firmly until they click into place.

If the cartridges are refilled, non-HP, or used, they may trigger this error. HP printers often require original HP setup cartridges for initial configuration.

Replace Cartridges if Needed

If the error persists:

  • Try replacing the cartridges with genuine HP 67 or 67XL cartridges.
  • You can find them at HP Store or authorized retailers.

Try a Test Print

Once setup is complete:

  1. Open the HP Smart app.
  2. Click “Print Documents” or “Print Photos” to test.

Yellow Blinking Light on Side Panel

This usually indicates a cartridge issue or paper jam.

  • Open the cartridge access door and check for:
    • Properly seated cartridges.
    • Any packaging material left inside.
  • Check the paper tray for jams or misalignment.
