CM6040
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have a gently used CM6040 multifunction enterprise laser printer / scanner that I purchased used and I can't get the scanner to work because I don't' have and apparently can't get the original Windows 7  driver installation files.

I have asked an authorized HP dealer for help and he says that he can't the install drivers either.
I am willing to pay anyone for a jump drive and shipping (very large files)  if anyone has them and can offer to make a copy.

This is a beautiful sophisticated enterprise MFP that is basically useless except for being a laser printer without this installation driver software.

Please help!

Hi,

All the software is available online, what task are you trying to achieve?

For Printing, install the HP UPD PCL6 driver:

https://support.hp.com/rs-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-color-laserjet-cm6030-cm6040-multifunc...

For a Network connection, ensure the printer is connected to the network and have a valid IP Address, then install HP UPD by selecting Traditional Mode.

Follow the steps on screen to provide the IP Address when creating a TCP/IP Port during the installation.

For Faxing from a PC, install the HP PC Send Fax Driver:

https://support.hp.com/rs-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-color-laserjet-cm6030-cm6040-multifunc...

For Scanning, no scanning software is available for such an Enterprise MFP by default, Digital Sending should be configured to allow scanning to Email or a Network Folder.

Scanning to Email Setup:

https://support.hp.com/rs-en/product/hp-color-laserjet-cm6030-cm6040-multifunction-printer-series/36...

You may also setup Scanning to a network folder from the same place to scan to a Network Folder instead.

This device feature is provided by the optional Digital Sending Software to allow Workflow Scanning, but DSS Software  has a 60 days trial and then required a license for further usage:

https://h30670.www3.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=DSS-SW

I suggest consulting the manual for any problem, page 163 have the scanning information for example:

Hi! and thank you you for helping.   I have the PCL6 drivers and it has been working just fine as a 'network printer.

The problem of course is the scanner and getting the output back.  I was told by my HP reseller/dealer/repair shop that there is a dedicated USB scanning utility for the CM6040 series that would receive the scanned output directly to the PC ( just like a regular home scale all-in-one) and that is the software I am trying to find.   He said that the installer files were very large and that I would need a jump drive to store them.    The software files used to be on the dealers only access HP web site portal but they are no longer availablefor downloading.
In the meantime, if anyone knows how to bridge the link that I don't have an actual email server on site, that would be very helpful knowledge.  Perhaps I need to install Win 2018 Server just for this purpose.

Thanks,
