Hi @AnneMc10

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for reaching out. If your HP ENVY 6455e is asking for a Wi-Fi password during setup, it’s referring to your home Wi-Fi network password, not a printer-specific password. Here’s how to get everything connected smoothly.

Step-by-step actions to connect your HP ENVY 6455e to Wi-Fi

1. Find your Wi-Fi network password

  • Check the label on the back or underside of your Wi-Fi router—look for “WPA key,” “Wi-Fi password,” or “Network key.”
  • If you changed it, you can view it on a connected Windows PC:
    1. Press Win + R, type ncpa.cpl, and press Enter.
    2. Right-click your Wi-Fi network > Status > Wireless Properties > Security tab.
    3. Check Show characters to reveal the password.

2. Reset Wi-Fi settings on the printer

If the printer is stuck or trying to connect to the wrong network:

  1. On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons together for 5 seconds.
  2. Wait for the Power and Wireless lights to blink—this resets network settings.

3. Use the HP App to complete setup

  1. Download the HP App from:
    HP App – Microsoft Store
  2. Open the app and click Set up a new printer.
  3. Follow the prompts to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network using the correct password.

The app will guide you through entering your Wi-Fi credentials and completing setup.

Let me know if the printer still doesn’t connect or if you’d like help finding the claim code or printing the info page. You’ve done everything right by staying proactive—I’ll be here to guide you further if needed.
