Hi @tlswann,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I hear Print from an Ethernet-Connected Computer to an HP Wi‑Fi Printer.

Yes, this can work as long as both devices are on the same network/subnet.

What to do:

Connect the printer to Wi‑Fi:

  • On the printer front panel, open the dashboard.

  • Tap the Wi‑Fi icon.

  • Go to Wireless Settings.

  • Run Wireless Setup Wizard or Wi‑Fi Protected Setup.

  • Follow the on-screen steps to complete setup.

  • Make sure no Ethernet cable is connected to the printer, because connecting Ethernet disables wireless on supported models.

Make sure the computer and printer are on the same network:

  • Your computer can stay connected via Ethernet.

  • The printer can stay connected via Wi‑Fi.

  • They must be on the same network/subnet for discovery and printing.

Install/add the printer on the computer:

  • Download HP software/driver from 123.hp.com or your printer series software page.

  • During setup, make sure the computer and printer are on the same network.

If the printer is not found automatically:

  • Print the Network Configuration Page from the printer front panel:

    • Internal Prints > User Information Prints > Network Configuration Page

  • Use that page to verify the printer network status and manually add the printer if needed.

  • On Windows, make sure the printer driver port matches the printer’s current network settings.

If printing still fails:

  • Check that the printer is not shown as Offline or Paused in the computer’s printer list.

  • Try accessing the printer’s Embedded Web Server from a browser to confirm both devices can communicate on the network.

  • If needed, temporarily check whether firewall/security software is blocking printer communication.

  • If the Wi‑Fi connection is unstable, run Print Wireless Network Test from the printer front panel.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
