I need to factory reset my HP OfficeJet Pro 8710. I don't have access to the Embedded Web Server because I lost my password. I can't access the setup menu on the main screen because the pull-down menu doesn't work (the rest of the screen seems to work fine).

Is there some secret way to factory reset this printer without access to the Embedded Web Server or the pull-down menu?

Hi @NK1000,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're unable to access the setup menu or the Embedded Web Server to perform a factory reset on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710, there is an alternative method known as a "partial reset" that can help reset your printer to its default state. Here's how you can perform this reset:

Turn Off the Printer: Make sure your printer is turned off by pressing the Power button. If it's not responding, unplug the power cord directly.

Disconnect Power: Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and from the power outlet.

Wait: Leave the printer without power for at least 60 seconds.

Restore Power: Plug the power cord back into the printer and the power outlet.

Power On the Printer: Turn the printer back on using the Power button.

Perform a Partial Reset:

  • Disconnect the power cord without turning off the printer.
  • Wait for 20 seconds.
  • Hold down the Power button and the Cancel button.
  • While holding both buttons, reconnect the power cord.
  • Continue holding the buttons until the printer starts and then let go.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hi @Jerry_57, Thanks for the detailed info!

I tried the method you provided, but my printer doesn't have a Cancel button. Here's a pic of the control panel:

Any ideas?
