I forgot the EWS username/password.  I've reset network defaults, but that fails to reset the EWS account.  When I access EWS, it continues to ask for a username/password.  In each category on the EWS home page it says, "This feature has been locked by the administrator."  HELP

Hio@krobz2, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

The default password on the EWS is the same as the default password for the wireless, which is printed on a sticker on the back of the printer

Try these steps -

Step 1 Network Restore -

1. From the printer control panel, touch and slide your finger across the screen, touch Setup, and then touch Network Setup.
2. Touch Restore Network Defaults, and then touch Yes.
A message appears stating that the network defaults have been restored.
3. Touch OK.

Step 2 Reboot the devices -

1. Turn off the Router, Printer, and computer.

2. Wait for 60 seconds.

3. Turn on the Router first and wait for all the lights to stabilize.

4. Turn on the printer and allow it to configure itself.

5. Turn on the computer.

Step 3 Run Wireless Wizard -

1. From the printer control panel display, touch and slide your finger across the screen and then touch Setup.
2. Touch Network Setup.
3. Touch Wireless Settings.
4. Touch Wireless Setup Wizard.
5. Follow the display instructions to complete the setup.

Praveenvb,

Thank you for your reply.  Unfortunately, the problem persists.  I followed your steps, but when I connect to EWS, I still see that sections of EWS are "blocked by the administrator" and requires a password.  So restoring the network defaults does not restore the default EWS password (even though it says it will on the control panel).

There is no sticker on the printer.

I also do not see a "blue envelope" next to my profile name.

Please let me know how to resolve this.

Thank you!

Hi@MrVegas,

I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your computer.

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Have a great day!
