Hi @ilbarrister,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To reset your HP LaserJet Pro 4001dw to factory settings, follow these steps:
Factory Reset via Printer Control Panel
Turn on the Printer:
- Make sure your printer is powered on.
Access the Setup Menu:
- On the printer's control panel, press the Home button to access the main menu.
Navigate to Service Menu:
- Use the arrow buttons to navigate to Setup or Settings, and then press OK.
- Navigate to Service and press OK.
Select Restore Defaults:
- In the Service menu, navigate to Restore Defaults and press OK.
- Confirm the selection if prompted.
The printer will restart and return to its factory default settings.
Factory Reset via Embedded Web Server (EWS)
Find the Printer's IP Address:
- Print a configuration page from the printer’s control panel to find its IP address.
- On the printer's control panel, navigate to Reports or Information, and then select Print Configuration.
Access the Embedded Web Server:
- Open a web browser on a computer connected to the same network as your printer.
- Enter the printer’s IP address into the browser’s address bar and press Enter.
Login to the EWS:
- If prompted, enter the administrator username and password for the printer.
- If you have not set a username and password, try using the default credentials (often admin for both).
Navigate to Factory Reset:
- In the EWS, go to the System tab.
- Find and select Service or Resets.
- Look for an option such as Restore Factory Settings or Reset and follow the on-screen instructions to reset the printer to factory defaults.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
