I need to reset the printer preview window.  I have an HP Officejet Pro 9015e inkjet printer.  Don't know why, but the the preview window is showing only half the document, and then page prints incorrectly.  How to I reset or fix the preview window.

Hi @AtticusFinchNYS

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how inconvenient it feels when the preview window doesn’t show the full document and the print comes out wrong. Thank you for noticing the issue and reaching out—it’s a smart step to catch this before wasting more paper and ink.

Let’s go through a clear set of actions to refresh and reset the preview so your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e prints correctly again.

Step 1: Reset the Print Settings in Windows

  1. Open the document you’re trying to print.
  2. Go to File > Print and select your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e.
  3. Click on Printer Properties or Preferences.
  4. In the layout or paper settings, ensure Paper Size matches the document size (for example, A4 or Letter).
  5. Set Scaling or Fit to Page to “Fit” or “Actual Size” depending on your need.
  6. Click Apply and then OK.

Step 2: Clear the Print Queue

  1. Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Scroll down to Print Spooler, right-click, and choose Restart.
  3. This clears any stuck jobs that may be affecting the preview.

Step 3: Reset the HP App Preview

  1. Open the HP App on your Windows computer.
  2. Select your printer from the home screen.
  3. Go to Print Settings and check the preview options.
  4. Reset margins and scaling to default.
  5. Try printing a test document again.

Step 4: Update the Printer Driver

Sometimes the preview issue is linked to outdated drivers.

  • Download the latest driver and software for your printer from HP’s support site here:
HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e Printer Software and Drivers

Install the update and restart your computer before printing again.

Step 5: Test with a Different Application

  • Try printing from another program (for example, WordPad or Notepad).
  • If the preview looks correct there, the issue may be with the original application’s print settings.

These steps should refresh the preview window and align the print output with your document. The driver update link above is verified and will give you the latest software for your printer.
