I've been trying to use the Scan function of HP Smart to scan postcards for online auctions. While it scans fine for whole documents, pages, etc., the preview's crop function doesn't allow me to crop to postcard size. When I choose the crop size, the smallest is 4" X 6" and postcards are 3.5" x 5." Setting to either Documents or Photos doesn't work either, nor does Entire Scan Area. I've tried everything! Is it possible to scan postcards on the HP Smart program/app?

Basic Setup - HP Smart for Windows - Scan and Crop / Edit

Place the item to be scanned on the flatbed / glass

Scan the content as Preset Photo / Image

Set the Page Size as Entire Scan Area

Do not check "Detect Edges

Scan

After the item scans, click Edit (upper right corner next to the tiny pencil)

In "Crop",

Select Custom

OR

Select 3.5x5

Drag the corners to the boundaries you want.

NOTE

Custom gives you "free reign on horizontal / vertical sizing

3.5x5 forces the Aspect Ratio to shape / size

NOTE 2

3.5x5 may force the left margin away from the edge.

Use Custom to avoid the margin offset effect.

Click Done

Next menu,

Click Edit (again) if you want to re-edit the scan

OR

Click Save or Share and finish the job...

Kudos to you for this solution! I spent hours trying to figure it out. Now I can even save scanned documents to PDF without using a conversion program. Greatly appreciated!
