I understand you are trying to update the firmware on your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M128FN printer, follow these steps:
Step 1: Prepare for the Firmware Update
Check Current Firmware Version:
- Print a Configuration Page from the printer's control panel to see the current firmware version.
- On the printer's control panel, press the Setup button.
- Select Reports, then Configuration Report.
Download the Firmware:
- Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page: HP Software and Driver Downloads.
- Enter your printer model (HP LaserJet Pro MFP M128FN) and select it from the list.
- Download the latest firmware file for your printer's operating system.
Step 2: Update the Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
Using Windows:
Prepare the Printer:
- Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your computer via USB or network.
Run the Firmware Update Utility:
- Locate the downloaded firmware file (usually a .exe file for Windows).
- Double-click the file to run the firmware update utility.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update process.
- Do not turn off the printer or disconnect it during the update process.
Using Mac:
Prepare the Printer:
- Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your computer via USB or network.
Run the Firmware Update Utility:
- Locate the downloaded firmware file (usually a .dmg file for macOS).
- Double-click the file to mount it, then run the firmware update utility.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update process.
- Do not turn off the printer or disconnect it during the update process.
Step 3: Verify the Firmware Update
- Print a Configuration Page:
- After the update is complete, print another Configuration Page from the printer's control panel to verify the new firmware version.
- On the printer's control panel, press the Setup button.
- Select Reports, then Configuration Report.
Troubleshooting
- If the update fails or encounters an error, restart the printer and computer, then try the update process again.
- Ensure that you are using the correct firmware file for your specific printer model.
