HP Neverstop Laser MFP 1202w

My printer lost SSID.  Multiple attempts using WiFi direct to input SSID and password have failed.

I can access printer using HP smart and WiFi direct but in advanced settings/network settings I am not able to change/select an SSID.

I tried HP Smart over USB on Windows 10 but HP Smart does not show me the network settings in windows.

WiFi direct appears to have rotating passwords. I have gone through 3 of them in the past few days. I’d like to factory reset my printer as I was able to set it up out of the box with no issues.

please advise.

Hi @BPcoupling,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To perform a factory reset on your HP Never stop Laser MFP 1202w printer, you can follow these steps.

  • Turn off the printer: Make sure the printer is turned off.
  • Press and hold the Resume button: Locate the Resume button on the printer. Press and hold it down.
  • Power on the printer: While holding down the Resume button, turn on the printer. Continue holding down the button until the Attention light turns on. This usually takes about 20 seconds.
  • Release the Resume button: Once the Attention light turns on, release the Resume button. The printer will begin the reset process, and the lights on the printer may flash or change.
  • Wait for the reset to complete: The printer will reset to its factory settings. This process may take a few minutes. Once completed, the printer will restart.
  • Set up the printer again: After the reset is complete and the printer has restarted, you'll need to set it up again as if it were brand new. This includes connecting it to your Wi-Fi network and any other configurations you had previously.

Once the factory reset is complete, you should be able to set up your printer as you did when you first took it out of the box.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm having a similar SSID issue but this reset procedure doesn't seem to be working for me. I'm starting with the printer powered off, holding the Resume button (looks like a sheet with a down arrow), pressing Power (on), release Power while continuing to hold Resume, and holding Resume for up to 40 seconds, but never seeing the Attention light come on. I do see the WiFi Direct icon come on.

Finally got the reset to happen, I think. At least I saw the Attention light come on. Still trying to get the HP Smart app to work to configure the wireless settings.

I have done quite a lot of fiddling with my 1202w.

I noticed there are 2 possible SSIDs. One <setup> and one <direct>.   I assume setup has to be on for WiFi settings to take place, but on my printer I cannot join setup, nor can direct and setup be on at the same time.

my printer has also been printing “IP STACK ERROR” sheets with a bunch of hex codes.  It’s very frustrating, setup of WiFi settings should not be difficult.  We are using WiFi direct to print for now. I’m thinking the WiFi on my printer is wrecked.

I hope you get yours working Jmeg

FWIW the setup SSID comes in when the blue WiFi icon/button is flashing on my device.
