Help! Trying to set up a new HP Neverstop 1001nw via USB on my MacBook Pro (with macOS 11.5 Big Sur). HP Smart Print will not connect or recognize the printer via the USB cable (tried many times....). I could get it to connect wireless, but that is not what I want. Help please!!! Isn't there just a printer driver somewhere that can be downloaded without all the HP Smart Print nonsense? Went through HP Smart Print and it had the option to connect via USB, but it didn't work (could never recognize or connect to the printer - tried with wireless on and off). How do I hook up this printer via USB wired?

Hi @Harold19,
I'd like to help!
I understand you are trying to set up the printer using a USB cable
HP Neverstop Laser 1001nw full-featured drivers for macOS 11is not available from the HP website.
Download the HP Smart app, and then follow the instructions to set up a USB connection in macOS.
-
If you already connected the printer USB cable to your computer, disconnect it, and then remove the printer from your computer.
Click the Apple icon
, click System Preferences, and then click Printers & Scanners, Print and Scan, or Print and Fax. Select the name of your printer, click the Minus sign
, and then restart the computer.
-
Make sure an open USB port is available on your computer. Do not connect the printer to a USB hub or docking station as the printer might not receive enough power to operate properly.
-
Also, make sure the cable is connected to a USB 2.0 port on your Mac
-
Do you have an Anti-virus/firewall installed on the Mac? If yes, disable the same for time being.
-
Go to HP Smart - Mac App Store and install the HP Smart app.
-
Open the app, and then follow the guided installation to complete the setup. If the setup does not begin automatically, click the Plus sign
to add your printer.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
