Laserjet 6P
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Received new Dell laptop from corporate located in Sweden. Cannot find driver on HP site. It suggests to do a Windows update but that is controlled by Administrator. I have no way of doing a windows update. I need to print today.

Hi:

See if this works...

Download and save, but do not run the 3rd driver listed at the link below.   That is the 64 bit driver.

http://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=%20Laserjet%206P

Download and install this free file utility.  The 2nd file on the top of the page is for 64 bit.

http://www.7-zip.org/

After you install 7-Zip, right click on the printer driver file you downloaded and select 7-Zip from the menu.

Have 7-Zip Extract to:  and let it extract the file into its folder name.

Once that is done use the add printer wizard to install your printer.

When you get to the part where it asks for the printer driver, click on Have Disk, and browse to the driver folder 7-Zip created>prnhp001, and select the HP LaserJet 6P printer from the list, and the driver should install.
