My printer screen continues to show a QR Code and message to download an app.  I have downloaded the app on my Samsung Galaxy S24+ and on a Windows PC.  They both show the same message about filling the ink tanks. I have already done this.  I filled the tanks.  Put in the print cartridges, printed a test page, did the calibration, and things looked to be complete, but then it went back to the Fill the tanks. No matter what I do, I can't get it past that screen on the apps and the printer continues to show the QR Code telling me to download the app.  I can open the Printers webpage and everything there shows that it is reday to go.  Tank levels full.

The full feature printer driver is on this webpage

It does not require you to be online to install unlike the HP App or HP Smart.

Let me know if it works or not.

There is also a lot of scan tools here

I don't think this is a driver issue.

The printer itself is fully functional. It detects all four ink tanks as full, the printheads are installed, it completed the alignment/calibration successfully, the firmware is current, and the Embedded Web Server reports the printer status as Ready with no errors.

The problem is that the printer never exits the initial setup process. The touchscreen remains on the QR code telling me to download the HP app, and both HP Smart on Android and Windows remain stuck on the "Fill the ink tanks" step even though that step has already been completed.

Because the printer is stuck in setup mode, I can't access the normal touchscreen menus for scanning, copying, or other standalone functions.

This appears to be a setup-state or firmware flag that was never marked as complete, not a Windows driver installation problem. Is there a way to reset or clear the initial setup state so the printer exits the onboarding process?

Sorry, I misunderstood.

if this is a new printer and in warranty then you have paid for support.

You can also contact the closest authorized service center
If you have (or get) a service order number you can check for status here.

How to contact an HP agent:

Sign in to your support page
Select the product you need help with and scroll down to support options.
Select "Contact us". You can change country and language if necessary.
If your HP product is out of warranty you can extend your PC coverage with HP Care Packs as described here.

If not in warranty then possibly a reset will work.  Try this first.

  1. Unplug printer from the wall outlet.
  2. If the power cord has a transformer (wall wart) unplug from the printer also.
  3. Press the power button 2-3 times to discharge residual electricity.
  4. Wait 60 second then plug into wall (not UPS nor surge protector) and turn onl.

Then try the factory reset on the console.

if you cannot access the control panel then try  this

I had a similar issue with a Smart Tank 7603. I filled the ink tanks, installed print heads, closed all doors & loaded paper but it never printed a printhead calibration page as the printed instructions said it would. At some point going forward it triggered printing the calibration page & I calibrated the print heads but the printer display stuck on message like, This program is installing software. After about 15 minutes I broke out of it by turning the printer off then it came back to a message about complete set up & install the HP App but with the display stuck I could not do much. Although the HP App was already installed it always wanted to install it again. Of course it could not find the printer plus more small items. Eventually it did come back on its own to printing a calibration page again. I recalibrated printheads then it installed what it had to install & the display returned to normal. For me it seemed as if it skipped the printer recalibration page although it did it later but it was only when it completed its Normal Calibration Process in the manner it was supposed to do it that things began to get back to normal. I had previously set up a Smart Tank 7602  & did not have these issues. (The 7603 replaced an HP Officejet 9018 cartridge printer due to the cost of ink & one of 4  of the latest cartridges indicating Supply System Issue not cleared with a new cartridges. I'm done with HP Cartridge Printers.)
