Hi @Billsquest3964,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the issue with the HP OfficeJet 3830 All-in-One Printer asking for a fax number!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
1. Check Printer Settings on the Laptop
- Default Printer: Ensure that the HP OfficeJet 3830 is set as the default printer, not the fax option.
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select the HP OfficeJet 3830 (not the fax option) and set it as the default printer.
2. Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers
- Update Drivers: Ensure you have the latest drivers installed for the HP OfficeJet 3830.
- Visit the HP Support page: HP OfficeJet 3830 All-in-One Printer Drivers.
- Download and install the appropriate drivers for your operating system.
- Reinstall Drivers: If updating doesn't work, uninstall the current drivers and reinstall them.
- Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features, find the HP printer software, and uninstall it.
- Then, install the latest drivers from the HP Support page.
3. Configure Printer Settings
- Printer Preferences:
- After installing the drivers, configure the printer preferences to ensure it defaults to printing.
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on HP OfficeJet 3830, and choose Printer Preferences, ensure that the print settings are correctly configured.
4. Check Printer Software
- HP Smart App: Install the HP Smart app to manage and configure your printer settings.
- Download the app from the Windows Store: HP Smart App.
- Use the app to ensure the printer is set up properly and to send print jobs directly from the app.
I hope this helps.
