HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3301fdw
macOS 12.0 Monterey

I may have received a lemon, but wanted to check with others in the support community to see if there are any troubleshooting steps that I may have missed.

Purchased new, I unboxed and powered up the 3301.  It took an inordinate amount of time to boot and calibrate (near 10 minutes).  Once up, i connected to the WiFi access point, which seemed to work just fine.  I added the printer to my Mac, then tried to AirPrint a document from my iPhone.  The iPhone could see the printer but the airprint would not work.  I tried to print from the Mac, but print jobs would sometimes print, other times "stall".  The printer would go "offline" from time to time.   Then an error appeared on the printer's control display:

Error Code: F0.01:01.02
Process Name:
FW Version: 6.17.0.1697-202310121633.

I restarted the machine, but could not print.  While looking at the firmware to upgrade, if possible, I noticed there were lock icons on the network settings.  I reset the printer to factory defaults and upgraded the firmware after reconnecting to wifi.  I was able to print using airprint.  But when I tried to print using my Mac, the print job stalled for 15 minutes, eventually producing one out of 20 pages before going "offline".

Any help or advice is appreciated.

Hi @kcarver ,

Please find the remaining steps below.

6. Check Printer and AirPrint Settings

Access Printer’s Web Interface:

  • Open a web browser and type in the IP address of your printer to access its web interface.
  • Check the settings related to network, AirPrint, and any other configurations that might affect printing.

Enable/Disable AirPrint:

  • Ensure that AirPrint is enabled on your printer. Sometimes toggling the setting off and then on again can resolve connectivity issues.

7. Check for Network Interference

  • Reduce Network Traffic:
    • High network traffic or interference might affect printing performance. Try reducing the load on your network or connecting your printer via Ethernet if possible.

8. Review Printer Logs and Errors

Printer Display:

  • Check the printer’s display for any error messages or warnings. Address any errors that might indicate network or hardware issues.

Printer Logs:

  • If available, review any logs or diagnostic reports from the printer’s web interface for clues about the problem.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue causing your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3301fdw to go offline during AirPrint jobs.

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, consider contacting HP Phone Support for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @kcarver,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

If your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3301fdw prints one page and then goes offline or stalls when using AirPrint from your Mac, it can be due to several issues, including network problems, printer settings, or driver issues. Here’s a systematic approach to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

1. Check Printer and Network Connectivity

Verify Network Connection:

  • Ensure that both your Mac and the printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Check that the printer's Wi-Fi connection is stable and that it is not showing any errors or disconnections.

Restart Devices:

  • Restart your printer, router, and Mac to refresh the network connections and resolve any temporary issues.

2. Update Printer Firmware

  • Check for Firmware Updates:
    • Visit the HP Support website and search for the latest firmware updates for your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3301fdw.
    • Follow the instructions to download and install any available updates. Firmware updates can resolve bugs and improve network performance.

3. Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Update Printer Drivers:
    • Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your Mac. Go to HP Support and download the latest drivers for your printer model.
  • Reinstall Printer Drivers:
    • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
    • Select your printer from the list, click the - button to remove it.
    • Click the + button to re-add the printer and follow the prompts to reinstall the drivers.

4. Check Printer Settings

Print Queue and Jobs:

  • Open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your printer and open the Print Queue. Cancel any stalled or pending print jobs.

Reset Printing System:

  • In Printers & Scanners, right-click (or Control-click) on the list of printers and select Reset Printing System.
  • Confirm the reset and then re-add your printer. This can clear any corrupted settings or configurations.

5. Test Different Printing Methods

Print from Another Application:

  • Try printing from a different application on your Mac to see if the problem is specific to one application.

Use AirPrint from a Different Device:

  • If possible, try printing from another iOS device or a different Mac using AirPrint to determine if the issue is isolated to your Mac or the printer.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
