Hi @waiyin,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're having trouble connecting your HP LaserJet Pro M12w to your new MacBook Air because of driver compatibility issues. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this.

Use HP's Universal Print Driver:

HP offers a universal print driver that may work with older printers on newer macOS versions. You can download it from the HP Support website. Search for "HP Universal Print Driver" and follow the instructions for installation.

Check for macOS Compatibility:

Visit the HP support page for the LaserJet Pro M12w and check if there's any updated driver available for macOS 14. Sometimes HP release updated drivers or workarounds for newer operating systems.

Use AirPrint:

Your HP LaserJet Pro M12w might support AirPrint, which is built into macOS. To use AirPrint:

  1. Ensure your printer and MacBook are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  2. Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  3. Click the + button to add a printer.
  4. Select your printer from the list. If it appears, it means AirPrint is available.

Try Generic PCL Driver:

Sometimes, using a generic PCL (Printer Command Language) driver can work. In the Printers & Scanners settings:

  1. Select Add Printer.
  2. Choose the Generic PostScript Printer or Generic PCL Printer driver from the list.

Install via HP Smart App:

Download and install the HP Smart App from the Mac App Store. It may help with connecting and managing your printer even if direct drivers are unavailable.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
