HP Smart Tank 7605. Printer was working, then I raised some issues with tech support. In a bid to fix the issues I have now been left with this message on the printer screen The HP Software is setting up your computer, which means I can no longer access the menu from the printer. The printer Firmware is up to date (as is my MacBook Pro software - running on macOS Sonoma 14.3.1). I have tried turning the printer on/off, unplugging it from the wall and leaving it at least 60-seconds before plugging back in and turning on (once leaving it unplugged over night), and I have tried leaving it for 10-days to see if it resolves itself - none of these things have worked. Can anyone help please? Thanks. Z

Hi @ZCG9,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like your HP Smart Tank 7605 printer is stuck in a setup process and you're unable to access the menu. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue.
- Reset the Printer: There might be a reset option available on the printer. Refer to the printer's manual to find out how to perform a reset. This could potentially clear any stuck setup process.
- Check Connectivity: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your computer and that all cables are securely plugged in. Sometimes connectivity issues can cause setup problems.
- Reinstall HP Smart App: If you were using the HP Smart App for setup or management, try reinstalling it on your MacBook Pro. This might refresh the connection between your computer and the printer.
- Factory Reset: As a last resort, you might need to perform a factory reset on the printer. This will reset all settings to their default values. Refer to the printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
Remember to back up any important settings or configurations before performing a factory reset, as it will erase all data stored on the printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi
Thank you for taking the time to respond. I am unable to fix the problem with the solution you have provided as follows:
1. Reset the printer: According to the online manual, I need to do this using the screen on the printer. I can't do this as it's stuck on the message 'The HP software is setting up your printer' so I can't access the menu to reset it. Is there another way to do this for this specific printer?
2. Check connectivity: The printer is connected wirelessly. I know this is working as I can still send print jobs - although I can do this I am limited with what I can do with the other functionality, such as scan to network/scan to email, as I can't access the menu on the screen (as above).
3. Reinstall HP Smart App: I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times to no avail.
4. Factory Reset: I am unable to do this as I believe I need access to the screen on the printer to do this. If I try to do this from the App via Advanced Settings, it says 'Printer is busy. Try again later' because it is stuck on 'The HP Software is setting up your printer'.
Please can you take the time to respond with any further detail specific to the printer rather than generic troubleshooting?
Many thanks.
