Product: HP OfficeJet 6958 All-in-One Printer

My printer says it's in "error mode" and to contact support.  HP's support gives no option other than virtual assistant {worthless) and community support.  My printer is older (warranty expired in 2018).  

What's the general consensus?  Throw the printer out the window and go buy an new one, or make an attempt to get it working again?
