I have recieved a message stating that my printer hasnt been installed correctly and that i need to insert the CD, however I do not have a CD drive on my new HP Laptop. I have signed up for the printer to order ink automaticaally and now do not know if that will work as its telling me it's only the basic installation I have.
I am sure there must be a way around this as not all laptops have a disk drive but I have no idea how to remedy this. I uploaded the software from this site. If anyone can help me out on this I would be so grateful.

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.
I understand that you have an HP DeskJet 3630 All-in-One Printer. I read that there is a message stating the printer is not installed correctly and you insert the disk. Not worry, I'll do my best to help you.
I would like to know the following information to assist you better:
- Did any software changes or updates happen for the printer?
- Is the printer able to print documents from the computer?
Meanwhile, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:
- Please download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor software. This is a free tool for Windows to help resolve issues with the printer drivers.
- You may have to restart your computer once for the changes to take place.
If the issue persists then I suggest you to uninstall the existing printer drivers and then install the latest drivers. The following steps will help:
- In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
- Select your HP printer.
- Select Uninstall.
- In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
- In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
- Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
- Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
- Click on Drivers tab.
- Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
- Select OK.
- Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties window.
- Close Devices and Printers.
- You may download and install the drivers from this link.
I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. Keep me posted how it goes. Good luck!

I am sorry to interfere, but I also have a laptop without CD writer.
Some external devices have software on CD (like printer).
It is difficult to make a recovery DVD.
Can we use an external CD / DVD drive in similar cases?
