No color with Smart Tank 5007 printer and MacOS Somona

Hi,

We recently purchased a Smart Tank 5007 printer for our daughter, who is a student. She uses a MacBook M2 running macOS Sonoma. The computer is connected to the printer via a USB cable, as the Wi-Fi network in her student residence is apparently secure.

We are having difficulty printing in color. The color printing option is not available in the print control panel, although black and white printing works fine. According to our research, a printer firmware update is required. However, we note that this update is not available for Mac computers on your website.

Could you please advise us on the procedure for updating the printer firmware on a Mac system?

In addition, we would like to know if using the HP app on our daughter's iPhone would allow her to print in color.  Would it also be possible to configure printing from her phone (direct printing) without using the residence's Wi-Fi network?

We thank you in advance for your attention to our request.  The current inability to fully use the printer's features is unfortunate, given the reputation of the HP brand and the cost of this device.

1. Connect your printer with USB cable:
