HP Deskjet 2540

A HP Deskjet 2540 printer was dropped off at my local goodwill but there is no power cord. I see that it has a USB slot can I use a USB cord to turn the printer on?

No.

You must connect it to the power with its dedicated power supply.

The power supply part number is 0957-2496 and the power cable part number is 8121-0893.

You may purchase such if still available for HP Authorised Parts resellers or may found a such on eBay, but be aware that the hardware and ink condition is unknown, as this is quite an older model, about 6-7 years old.
