Not able to print anything and getting an error on the smart print app: 'Cartridge or account issue'. I do not have any instant ink subscription. Please help.

If you're facing a "Cartridge or account issue" error on your HP printer and do not have an HP Instant Ink subscription, follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

 

Use Genuine HP Cartridges

  • Check Cartridge Authenticity: Ensure you are using genuine HP cartridges, as using third-party or refilled cartridges can cause combability issues.

Restart Printer

  • Turn off the printer, unplug the power cord from the outlet, wait for 60 seconds, reconnect the power cord, and turn the printer back on.

Clean Cartridge Contacts

  • Cleaning: Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to gently clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer. Dry them before reinserting.

Reset the Printer

  • Factory Reset: Perform a factory reset on your printer through the Settings menu to clear any settings that might be causing the error.

Update Printer Firmware

  • Firmware Update: Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date by visiting the HP Support website and checking for the latest updates appropriate for your printer model.

Verify Printer Drivers

  • Driver Update: Make sure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. Visit the HP Support website to download and install the correct drivers.

Contact HP Support

  • Further Assistance: If the issue persists after trying these steps, contact HP Customer Support for professional technical assistance.
