my HP app sees the printer, my can see the printer on my computer under Printers -- though it says Driver is unavailable as subtext.   however if i look somewhere else --can't remember where -- it says drivers are up to date.

None of my apps see the printer at all -- so basically can't print

It sounds like your HP printer is detected by Windows, but the “Driver is unavailable” message means the printer driver didn’t install correctly or is corrupted. This is why apps can’t communicate with the printer even though the HP app sees it.

Here’s the accurate HP fix:

Step 1: Remove the Printer Completely

  1. Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  2. Select your HP printer → Remove device.
  3. Restart your computer.


Step 2: Download the Correct Driver

  • Visit Official HP® Support.
  • Enter your printer model (e.g., HP ENVY Inspire 7255e).
  • Download the Full Feature Software and Driver (not just the basic driver).


Step 3: Install HP Smart


Step 4: Check Windows Print Spooler

  • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
  • Find Print Spooler, right-click → Restart.


Step 5: Test Printing

Try printing from the HP app or any app after reinstall.
