HP OfficeJet Pro 9010

Hi,

I bought a new HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 and configured it now.

All my systems are macOS 10.14 Mojave (or iOS 12).

I installed HP App for macOS and tried really everything:
- Scan document with HP App

- Scan document on the printer (scan 2 e-mail)

All scanned PDF documents aren't searchable, so OCR does not work. I also tried the scanner app integrated in macOS, no chance.

How can I scan searchable PDF documents (OCR) with this printer? 😕

Thanks in advance,

Dennis

Hi,

Please try installing HP Easy Scan and check if it may locate your printer:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/hp-easy-scan/id967004861?mt=12

Assuming it does detect the printer model it should offer OCR capabilities as listed below:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-pro-9010-all-in-one-printer-series/23903057/docume...

Also using Smart Tasks should allow scanning to OCR, however as I can see it is only supported on Windows 10 PCs, iOS  or Android mobile devices..however, I suggest giving it a try from HP Smart on Mac OS X and check:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-pro-9010-all-in-one-printer-series/23903057/docume...

.

Please let me know,

Shlomi

Hi Shlomi,

thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately, I am not satisfied with the solution 😞

With HP Easy Scan it has been possible to scan and search documents on my Mac Pro. Unfortunately, this does not work on my MacBook.

Furthermore, the scan with OCR does not work with the HP Smart App (normal scans and also Smart Task) and more importantly: directly at the printer with the normal "Scan -> E-Mail" function.

So if it is absolutely not possible to make documents searchable, I will have to send the printer back :-((

OCR is an indispensable feature for me.

Is there any setting I missed?

Thanks in advance,

Dennis

Hi Dennis,

Following my testing, Smart Tasks is the only OCR capability available for Mac OS for the latest printer models, also from the information received once verifying within an HP employee today.

Hi, Shlomi,

thank you so much for your troubleshooting and help, I really appreciate it.

Unfortunately, HP's solution is not acceptable to me because Smart Tasks only offer upload to external cloud providers or via email. That just makes things more complicated for me. If I could upload it to my Nextcloud server, it would have been nice.

So I will send the printer back and stay with my old Canon.

Thanks again,

Dennis
