macOS 10.14 Mojave

Hi.  I have upgraded to OS 10.14 Mojave and since then have been unable to print from my HP Laser jet CP1025.  I cannot seem to find a printer driver listed on the HP support site, only 10.13.

Any advice appreciated

Hi @ChromeheadUK, Welcome to HP forums.

I understand you are getting filter failed error on your printer.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Does the issue persist while printing a specific document?

Have you tried printing using a different application?

Excellent description and a great diagnosis done. It is greatly appreciated.

I have checked the specifications of your printer as the printer is very old there is no driver available from HP.

First, you can remove and add the printer as AirPrint and check if it helps.

You have to update the drivers using apple software update.

Try the steps recommended below to update the drivers using apple software update.

  1. Click the Apple menu, then click System Preferences.

  2. Depending on your operating system version, click Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners.

Example of the Printers & Scanners window

  3. Check if the name of your printer displays in the Printers list. Do one of the following steps, depending on if the printer is listed or not.

    • If your printer is listed, remove and re-add the printer to confirm communication and to make sure the correct driver is used. Click the name of your printer, then click the minus sign  to delete the printer. Once the printer is removed, click the plus sign , click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer, then continue to the next step.

    • If your printer is not listed, click the plus sign, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer, then continue to the next step.

    • If your printer is not listed in the Add Printer or Scanner window, make sure the printer is connected to the Mac with a USB cable, or that it is on the same wired or wireless network as your Mac. See the Frequently asked questions in this document to resolve connection issues, try to add the printer again, then continue to the next step.

  4. Click the Use or Print Using menu, then select the name of your printer.

    NOTE:

Selecting a Generic driver option from the Use menu can result in limited printer functionality.

Select the name of your printer in the Use menu

  5. Click Add to add the printer to the list.

Hi,  Thanks for the advice.  I deleted and then added the printer, but it has not resolved the problem.  Is there any generic printer driver I could use.  The HP site has a driver for 10.13 but not 10.14

It looks like you were interacting with @MrRobot, but he is out for the day & I'll be glad to help you out.

As per the document available here, HP LaserJet Pro CP1025 Color Printer driver are only available via Apple Software Update. Since you have already tried adding the driver and you are still having issue. The only option that I could think of is adding an alternate driver. Here is how to do it:

1.) Download and install HP Printer Drivers v5.1 for OS X from here

2.) Click the Apple menu, then click System Preferences.

3.) Click Printers & Scanners.

3.) If your printer is listed, click the printer name and click the minus sign to remove the printer.

4.) Click the plus sign, click Add Printer or Scanner

4.) Click the Use: drop-down menu and choose "Select Software..." from the drop-down list. The Printer Software list will appear.

5.) Scroll through the list of available printer drivers select HP LaserJet CP1520 Series and click OK. click the Add button.

6.) Try to print.

If in case you are still not able to print, try adding the HP LaserJet CP1028 driver.

Keep me posted!

Let's try updating the software on Mac and resetting the printing system:

2.) Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences.

3.) Click Printers & Scanners.

4.) Right-click (or Control + click) anywhere inside the Printers window, and then click Reset printing system.

5.) Click Reset or OK.

6.) Click the Add button, click the name of your printer.

7.) Click the Use or Print Using box, and then select the name of your printer.

8.)Once the correct HP driver is chosen, select Add to add the printer to the list.

9.) Try to print.
