How do i get ocr functionality on my scanner please?

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

OCR functionality depends on the software being used to scan. You may use the HP Scan Extended application that may help.

Click here to download the application. Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended".

Thank you for your suggestion.

I have downloaded the file and have run it.

When I click the new app it says ‘the hp imaging device was not found’ although the printer shows available for printing in my previous hp home app and through my word programme.  I did a restart and get same message.

My OS is 64 Windows 10.

Can you help?

Try restarting the printer and the PC.

The printer driver for HP DeskJet 2600 does not include OCR functionality. Hence, I provided the HP Scan extended app. This app may not support all the printers. If the app does not detect the scanner, it may not be supported.

You may download and third party OCR app to scan as editable text.
