Hello,

I bought a used OfficeJet Pro 8024 printer without cartridges.

I want to use the scanner but the printer is stuck on the "insert cartridges" screen.
How can I skip this message?

Unfortunately, it doesn't work.
I still get the message “One or more cartridges are missing or damaged.”
I don't have cartridges at all and I only want to use the scanner.

See if you can access it through the network or USB  cable.

you should do a reset that puts it into setup mode and access it from the PC.

I had to do this on a canon printer that had the control panel smashed.

You will have to experiment.

I did a full reset and it continues to ask me to insert the cartridge.
“Insert cartridges that came with the printer”.
when I open and close the lid it shows
“One or more cartridges are missing or damaged.”
and I can't turn on the scanner on the printer display.

This may not be what you want, but there is 3rd party scanning software that does scanning only
