Why does my printer always "print" a blank envelope or label first, before it prints the correct document?

Hi @savagegrace,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 8210 printer may print a blank envelope or label before printing the correct document due to specific settings or issues in the software or print driver. Here are the steps to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

Check the Document Settings:

  • Ensure that the document settings in the software match the type and size of the media you are using. Mismatched settings can lead to the printer feeding a blank page or envelope.

Ensure Proper Media Loading:

  • Double-check that the envelopes or labels are loaded correctly according to your printer's guidelines. An improperly loaded tray can cause the printer to pick a blank envelope or sheet.

Verify Print Queue Settings:

  • Inspect the print queue to check whether any ghost jobs or previous printing tasks might be causing this issue. Clear any stuck jobs in the queue.

Printer Driver and Software:

  • Ensure that your printer driver is up to date. An outdated driver may not handle print jobs correctly. Official HP® Support
  • Consider reinstalling the printer software to ensure that there are no corrupt files leading to print anomalies.

Separator Sheets Setting:

  • In some cases, settings for separator sheets or additional pages might be activated. Check the print settings to disable any additional sheets or separators.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
