HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My office Jet Pro 8710 all of a sudden stopped printing in color. Do not understand why. Checked everything, prints in B/W but docs in color  come out in B/W also.

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are unable to print in color, I am glad to assist you.

This seems to be a drive issue, follow these steps to fix the issue.

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer-related software.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.

I went through all of the steps outlined in your post: Removing printer from list of printers.  Deleting the drivers.  Restarting computer.  Downloading HP Smart.  Downloading & installing the latest software from HP Support [Full_Webpack-40.15.1230_1-OJ8710_Full_Webpack.exe].  Successfully installed the software.  Connected my computer to the printer via wi-fi.  Double-checked that latest firmware was installed.  Ran a report from the printer, showing all of the cartridges are practically full.  Previously cleaned the printheads.

Although the printer otherwise prints fine (in black), it does not print in red nor does it print in green.  However, curiously, when I color text blue in a Word document, the printer does print the text in blue.

Also, it does not appear that the color option button appears in settings.

FOLLOW_UP: Subsequent to posting this item, I cleaned the printhead again, and was able to restore much of the color-printing capability. The Yellow cartridge still acted up some so I am arranging to install replacement for just the Yellow.

Hello,

I'm experiencing the same issues as described in the subject line. I followed all of the instructions below exactly two times so far. The printer printed in color for a few weeks each time and now it won't print in color again.

Is it possible there is a conflict with an old MS Office 2010 suite? Specifically, MS Word?

I look forward to reading a response again.

Thank you.

Kind regards,

L Stratton
