@Colinold64, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It seems you're experiencing connection issues with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 printer when using both USB and Bluetooth connections. There are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot this problem:

Check Physical Connections:

  • Ensure that the USB cable is securely connected to both the printer and your computer. Try using a different USB cable if possible, as non-certified USB cables can cause connectivity issues.
  • Verify that the printer is powered on.

Power Cycle:

  • Turn off both the printer and the computer.
  • Disconnect the USB cable from the printer and your computer.
  • Reconnect the USB cable and power both devices back on.

Bluetooth Connection:

  • Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your PC and that it can detect devices.
  • Remove the printer from your list of paired devices and try to reconnect it as a new device using the Bluetooth settings.

HP Smart App:

  • Ensure you are using the latest version of the HP Smart app.
  • If it continues to recognize the printer only as a fax device, uninstall the HP Smart app and reinstall it.

Printer Settings and Drivers:

  • Check for updates or reinstall the printer drivers through HP's official website. Sometimes drivers might need a refresh to work correctly with updated system libraries.

Check Printer Configuration:

  • Make sure the printer is configured correctly in your control panel. Sometimes printers may default to fax settings if they aren't configured for primary printing tasks.

Device Manager Checks:

  • Access Device Manager on your PC to ensure there are no errors shown for your printer devices. If errors are present, update or reinstall the drivers.

Firewall and Security Software:

  • Temporarily disable firewall or security software to see if it's blocking the connection.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
