HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 All-in-One Printer

I am POed!  I have a HP Office jet Pro cr6968 printer that had the OCR capability until mid-2022 when HP "decided" to no longer include the OCR driver in the driver package.  Can anyone tell me why the Company would do such a **bleep** foolish action?   I've been an HP customer since 1889, I have Smart Friend support and HP Instant Ink!   I've tried to contact HP but that's like "P" in the wind.  Absolutely futile!   The printer is great operationally but I need the OCR driver.  Does anyone know how to get an OCR driver or am I relegated to "PURCHASING A NEW PRINTER TO GET THE OCR CAPABILITY?  i WOULD THINK HP WOULD DO SOMETHIONK TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM TO KEEP A CUSTOMER!

Add the Web Pack Installation Package link for the current Full Feature Software

========================

Embedded OCR Software

True - Mid 2022, some printer software installation Web Packs were repackaged without the embedded OCR software.

Reasons for the removal of the OCR option are open to speculation --perhaps incompatibility with newer versions of Windows, OCR license issues, "something else".

?

=======================

Universal Scan Software

The Universal Scan Software adds the OCR libraries to (currently) installed Full Feature Software.

The USS option is limited to select printers (the software is printer model dependent).

Look for the Universal Scan Software in your printer's Product Home  > Open Category Software and Drivers

What else?

Options vary for those printers that never included the embedded OCR and / or those printers that cannot benefit from the Universal Scan Software.

For example:

Full Feature Software

If you have a slightly older copy of the Full Feature Software Web-Pack installation package, use that to install printer software.

Current package - this printer - Complete except for the OCR libraries

=================

Replace Hardware

Replace your printer with an HP or other model that includes OCR embedded in the printer software or available free as part of the installed printer software options.

Some newer / new HP printers are among those that include this option.

Reminder >> OCR software is not included with every new printer -- Read the specifications.
