Hi @Juju801,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 has indeed been discontinued. However, it can still work with your computer despite its discontinued status. Here are some steps to help you troubleshoot the connectivity issue between your HP OfficeJet Pro 8715 (which is very similar to the 8710) and your Windows 10 (64-bit) PC:

Steps to Connect Your Printer to Your PC

Check Printer and Network Connections

  • Ensure that your printer is powered on.
  • Make sure your printer is connected to the same network as your computer (either via Wi-Fi or Ethernet).

Install or Update Drivers

  • Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers and software for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8710. Even though the model is discontinued, HP continues to provide drivers for older models.
  • Install the downloaded drivers and restart your computer.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and fix connectivity issues.

Check Windows Settings

  • Ensure that your printer is set as the default printer.
    • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
    • Select your printer and click on Set as default.

Use the Windows Troubleshooter

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  • Select Printer and run the troubleshooter.

Firewall/Security Software

  • Temporarily disable any firewall or security software to check if it's blocking the connection.
  • Ensure that the firewall is configured to allow the printer software and communication.

Check Printer IP Address

  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to the network settings to find the printer’s IP address.
  • Open a web browser on your PC and enter the printer’s IP address to access the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS). If you can access this page, the printer is connected to the network correctly.

Manual Connection

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners > Add a printer or scanner.
  • Select The printer that I want isn't listed.
  • Choose Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname.
  • Enter your printer’s IP address and follow the prompts to complete the setup.

Additional Tips

  • Firmware Update: Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer on the HP Support website. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve connectivity issues. Update the firmware on an HP printer
  • Network Reset: If all else fails, reset your network settings on the printer and reconnect it to the network.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
