When I scan a document, the printer uses date and time as a prefix of the scanned file name. and it uses 19700101-002147.pdf
I can't find the menu on the printer administration page, and all similar questions in this community are unanswered. Can the correct date/time be set manually? Or will this printer get it from a timeserver on the Internet?

Hi @Dongbin,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To set the date and time on your HP OfficeJet 250 printer, you can follow these steps.
- Access the Control Panel: On the printer's control panel, locate the "Setup" or "Settings" button. Press it to access the printer's settings menu.
- Navigate to Date/Time Settings: Within the settings menu, look for an option related to "Date/Time" or "Clock Settings." Depending on the model and firmware version, the exact wording may vary slightly.
- Adjust Date and Time: Once you've located the date and time settings, you should be able to adjust them manually. Use the arrow buttons or touchscreen interface to set the correct date and time.
- Save Changes: After setting the date and time, look for an option to save or apply the changes. This might be labeled as "OK" or "Save."
If you can't find the date and time settings in the printer's menu, it's possible that your printer model doesn't support manual adjustment of the date and time. In such cases, the printer may automatically retrieve the date and time from a network time server if it's connected to the internet.
If your printer is connected to the internet and still displays the incorrect date and time, you may want to check the network settings to ensure it has access to the internet and is configured to use a time server.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi @Alden4,
Thanks for your reply. I can't find the date/time in the settings, so OfficeJet 250 doesn't support manual date setting. It's reachable to the Internet, as it can send an email with scanned documents, but it still doesn't get the correct date/time from a time server. I connected it for at least 24 hours, but it doesn't work.
How can I trigger automatic date/time adjustment for this model?
Best,
Dongbin

It seems as if it is not possible to change the time or date at a OfficeJet 250.
No indication for it in the manual.
No indication for it in the online help service from HP
I tried to ask the support but all I get is the same stupid and useless answers from the Chatbot...
I tried to install all the software available for this printer on the PC hoping it would somehow sync the time and date but no...
For me its a big problem - I can not use the function that sends the scan per email because every email provider blocks the email with the message: "Please note that the time and date information in your email header (RFC 5322) is not plausible. Reason: The time information deviates too much from the actual time."
Actually this function (send scan via email) was one reason why I bought this printer(+scanner).
Anyway.. unfortunately no support in this case from HP

So, it appears that this is a basic piece of functionality that isn't built into this device.
And almost as disappointing is that HP's own support staff is not familiar enough with their own hardware to help customers deal with this issue.
If you're watching this thread, HP, you need to provide a better response.

Now, the scanned document has the correct date/time, even though I didn't set it manually. Probably the printer finally succeed to reach out to the timeserver. I printed some pages with airplay and scanned a document using "HP Easy Scan" in macOS, but I don't believe it triggers time adjustment.
