HP Recommended
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My partner's HP OfficeJet 4658 has multiple issues:

1. Won't consistently print in colour

2. Won't consistently print double sided

3. Won't scan directly to a pdf or jpg file from the printer

So far, I have:

Updated the firmware

Updated the HP Smart & related software

Uninstalled & reinstalled the drivers and software

Used an HP software purge tool to remove all traces

Used a registry cleanup tool to delete all HP printing entries

Rolled back the driver to an old version

Scoured Windows 10 (64-bit) device settings

Tried drivers from similar HP printers

updated Windows 10

Setting it to auto detect the double sided printer results in double sided printing for a while & then the setting reverts to no duplex unit

Scanning from the HP Smart app works fine but my partner can't cope with the complexity & just wishes to scan directly to a pdf or jpg file from the printer control panel.

Colour printing settings in Windows have been exhaustively scrutinised & set/reset many times - this works for a while & then it stops printing colour

Both cartridges have been changed

HP diagnostics do not detect any errors

None of my attempts to fix these issues result in permanent fixes and I often have to start again!

I'm at a loss as to what to try next, so any ideas from you wonderful people?
