OfficeJet 6950

Hi

I try to setup my HP OfficeJet 6950.

I successfully connected it to my Wifi network.

Now I open the embedded web server in my browser, most of the tabs are protected with a username password (http basic auth) and I cannot find the credentials, login password to access them.

I tried to print the printer status pages, nothing.

I also couldn't find anything in the manual. I tried admin/admin, admin/12345678 as read on some replies, without success.

I read some forum threads to reset some parameters ... I don't want to reset the password, I never set it.

Where can I find the default password?

Hi,

The printer have no default password, unless set by a user.

Please try admin among your wireless password to deny any option that the wireless password may wrongly entered as an Administrator Password in a previous wireless connection attempt, other than that please check with any users having access to the printer, any such password was configured by any end user.

Hi ShlomiL

Thanks for your answer, but it does not help.

The print indeed has a default password to access admin pages of the EWS embedded web server.

When I opened my 6950 printer, I configured the Wifi with the LCD touch screen.

Then when I open the EWS with the http://<my-printer-ip-address> I can see an icon lock on many pages, links.

I can guarantee that no other user has entered a password on the EWS.

On some other thread I also saw a sticker with a QR Code and a PIN on it, and the PIN, but my printer does not have any sticker like this. Neither on the sides, the back nor inside the printer with the cartridges.

There must be a way to get the default password? or a way to set it?

Let’t try printing a Printer Status Report:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-6950-all-in-one-printer-series/9666193/document/c0...

Evaluate the Connectivity Settings section and look if you may see  any Password or WPS PIN information in the report, try using it as the Administrator Password.

Please let me know if that may help,

Shlomi

Thanks for the quick response 🙂

I already printed the status page, and on my 6950, the EWS password is not in the 2 printed pages.

And just to clarify, because you speak in your answer about WPS, I do not speak about Wifi Wireless in any way.

I don't need WPS to connect my printer to my Wifi network, this is already done (not by WPS by the way, I typed the password manually as my router does not support WPS).

So my printer is already connected to my network and I try to access the Embedded Web Server of my printer.

I spent some time today to reset my printer to factory settings.

I had to reenter my WiFi password.

Once connected to my WiFi, I open the printer address in Firefox to access its Embedded Web Server.

I've not been prompted to set any admin password!

Instead, I'm prompted with an HTTP Basic Auth form for a username and a password ... exactly before my factory reset.

I tried every possibility (like admin/admin...) I already tried without any success.

There must be a default value for this password, and I don't understand why it is so hard to find !

If anyone has a solution, I would appreciate.
