I have two printers:

-Laserjet 252DW

-OfficeJet Pro 6970

Went to update the firmware on both so downloaded the software. Ran the Laserjet firmware update and then accidentally chose the OfficeJet printer from the drop-down as I got distracted. So easily done.

I didn't realise until I checked the Laserjet firmware and it hadn't updated. Now I have checked the OfficeJet settings and it has that firmware on it.

I can't undo it, I can't update the OfficeJet with the latest correct firmware as it doesn't let me (presumably because the firmware date is older?). I'm stuck!

I can't even believe it let me choose a printer that wasn't the correct one, no check by the firmware, which generally happens these days.

Please help!!!!

Thanks,

Nige

Looks to me that you Officejet automatic updated to the latest version available from HP cloud. Can happen that HP automatic update is higher than the one available for download from hp.com.

It's not possible to update Laserjets firmware to Officejet device, and most laserjet printer firmware versions have a date (20191110 for M252series) you can check on your M252 current firmware version and the release date.

Can you print a configuration page from your Officejet scan and post here? 😕

It's very unusual that you have managed to upload the wrong firmware.

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me. I've taken a screenshot (see below) of the printer info, and the firmware info, via HP Smart, is this what you mean?

The firmware installed is MCP2CN2006BR, is that for the OfficeJet or Laserjet? It is dated this year, and the last OfficeJet firmware according to the update page was date Apr 16, 2019

It was updated, by mistake, using the LaserJet firmware tool, found here:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Color-LaserJet-Pro-M252-series/7089938/model/708...

Here are the screenshots:

Thanks in advance

Ok, thanks!!! Phew... was stressed at the weekend and that panic added to it!

I just assumed that the tool that said it was for updating the LaserJet firmware would have loaded it with that! Eeeek.

Thanks again,
