Add me to the list of people with this issue. It’s been several days now and my printer is just stuck in an endless loop of trying and failing to install a firmware update. HP need to roll out a fix! I can’t disable updates as I’m a a smart ink customer.

Me too.  [edit] don't test this out first.

Have you managed to solve this issue - I am having exactly the same problem.

Thanks

The only temporary workaround solution was to do what explain MM162.

install a proxy /(tinyproxy or squid)

define it in printer setting

blacklist URL "hp\.com\/pub\/inkjet\/updates"

BUT THE ISSUE IS ON THE HP SIDE, NOT ON USERS SIDE...

I fixed the problem (temporarily) by using settings on my internet router to disable internet access specifically for my HP printer. I can still access the printer from my home network, but the printer is unable to scan for updates and thus continues to work normally.  One HP sort out their problems, I can re-enable internet access for the printer.

None of the workarounds work.  Having worked for HP/HPE for over 20 years I really would have thought this would have been resolved by now.  TO HP TECH: Does this have a fix/build number? This isn't a small issue to be bundled into a bigger patch, this is an immediate issue. Downgrade the FW if necessary as the issue is bigger than any fix it was meant to fix!!!!

I have exactly the same problem. HP8025 printer enrolled in HP-Ink. Software up to date.

It is regularly asking to download a new update but fails to do so (probably because there is no new update).

The ONLY thing that has changed in my setup was a new HP Windows 11 laptop  on 6th May. I haven't loaded anything special about the printer onto the new laptop.

Anyone have any ideas as to why this problem is occurring and what to do about it?

I’m adding my voice to the conversation; same issue, endless attempts at installing the firmware, time wasted with printer resetting, instant ink subscription. Very frustrating that this issue is taking so long to fix.

Hello,
I have the same problem, and contacted HP support via whatsapp.
They came back with some kind of standard answer, like checking my internet connection, restart the modem/router, cleanup browser cache, disable antivirus software and retry.
But it is clear that the problem is not the modem, laptops, PCs, browsers or antivirus software.
It is the printer itself that tries on its own to install the firmware.
When I try installing the firmware from my PC, the installer says that the firmware is up-to-date.
It can be concluded, from the comments from all of you, and from my experience, that the problem must be at HP side, or the firmware itself.
Does anyone know if there is someone somewhere at HP having a serious look into this issue, rather than replying with some standard procedures ?
Is there a problem report ticket number or something ?

Kind regards.

I've asked someone in HP to have a look as soon as he's back from holidays. At least it's now flagged to senior levels. It does still print if you click "ok" to the failed download, not the best answer but if you do need to print something...
