HP Officejet 8130e

I have installed, removed, reinstalled this printer many times over the  last couple years, thinking maybe finally, it will work to no avail. I can access it on my desktop computer, but my laptop, finds it, installs it, have the HP app software and it always says the driver is missing.  It has the scan capability, but not print.  I have tried everything.  I have dowloaded drivers from HP they download, but there is no .exe file to get them installed.  I run troubleshoot for HP, after 5 mins it says Driver missing cannot be fixed. What gives with this? And please don't send a   link to the driver download page, been there, downloaded, extracted but they just sit there in my download folder, there is no exe file.

Hi @bnewcol1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thank you for explaining what you have already tried. Since the OfficeJet Pro 8130e is detected and scanning works, but Windows reports that the print driver is missing, this is more likely a problem with the Windows print driver/print queue rather than the printer itself.

Also, you are correct that simply extracting a downloaded driver package and finding no .exe does not necessarily mean you are missing an installer. For the 8130e series, HP now supports the HP Print Support Application (PSA) as a driver solution on Windows 11, and it can install automatically when the printer is added through the HP app.

Before we try another installation, could you please provide:

The Windows version and build on the laptop (press Windows + R, type winver, and press Enter).

In Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners, what exactly is shown for the OfficeJet 8130e?

Does it show “Driver is unavailable," or is “driver missing” displayed only inside the HP app?

Is the laptop connected to the printer through Wi-Fi or USB?

Please don't download another driver package or repeat the previous installations yet. Once we know the Windows version/build and how Windows currently identifies the printer, we can target the actual driver issue instead of sending you back to the same download page.
