Had a heck of a time installing the software - wouldn't recognize the printer. Had to use the HP utility software to uninstall printer drivers and then I reinstalled. Now only certain applications print. I can print from notepad, and Adobe reader, but not from Word or outlook. Word gives me no error but nothing prints, and outlook gives me a "Printer not Ready" error. Wasted my whole day on this - any ideas?

Welcome to HP Support Forums. A really great platform for posting all your questions and finding solutions.
I have gone through your Post and I would like to help
The issue could have been caused by the security settings changed on the user profile.
You may either create a new user, login with the new user profile to install the printer or Turn off the UAC from the control panel and Restart the PC.
Here are the steps to configure User Access Control settings:
Open User Account Control Settings by clicking the Start button and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type uac, and then click Change User Account Control settings.
To turn off UAC, move the slider to the Never notify position, and then click OK.
If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. You will need to restart your computer for UAC to be turned off.
Try printing and let me know how it goes
Keep me posted and have a wonderful day 😊

Thanks for that info. The problem was fixed earlier today by PAUL - one of HP's phone techs. He basically told me what you are suggesting - that Norton 360 affected the installation. He had to create a new driver and all is well. I'm sure more people will have this problem so your post may help them. Thanks and consider this issue closed.
