Hi @Dianej1950,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 7720 printer is showing an error about the printhead being missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed, you can follow these steps to resolve the issue:

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds and then plug the power cord back in.
  • Turn on the printer to see if the error persists.

Reinstall the Printhead:

  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Wait until the carriage is idle and silent.
  • Lift the latch handle on the carriage to release the printhead.
  • Remove the printhead carefully, without touching the electrical contacts.
  • Reinsert the printhead, ensuring it clicks securely into place.
  • Close the latch handle and make sure it’s locked properly.

Check the Printhead Contacts:

  • Inspect the electrical contacts on the printhead for any dirt, ink, or debris.
  • Clean the contacts gently with a lint-free cloth.

Install Setup Cartridges:

  • Make sure you are using the correct Setup ink cartridges that came with the printhead. If you have recently replaced the printhead, new Setup cartridges are required for initialization.

Reset the Printer:

  • After reinstalling the printhead, close the ink cartridge access door, and reset the printer by turning it off and back on.

Replace the Printhead:

  • If these steps do not resolve the issue, the printhead may be faulty. Consider purchasing and installing a new printhead. The model number for the replacement printhead is M0H91A.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
