HP OfficeJet Pro 8035e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi! I have an HP OfficeJet Pro 8035e printer.

My internet service changed the modem and I am unable to connect wireless.

I connected wired, and was able to connect WiFi direct from my laptop.... BUT it says "driver unavailable"

Is there a driver?

Or... is there another way to connect/print from my wireless laptop to the wired printer?

Hi @Avis25,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're unable to connect wirelessly to your HP OfficeJet Pro 8035e printer after changing your modem, and you're encountering a "driver unavailable" error when attempting to print via WiFi Direct from your laptop, here are some steps you can take:

1. Install Printer Drivers:

  1. Download Drivers: Visit the HP Support website and download the latest printer drivers for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8035e printer. Make sure to select the correct drivers for your laptop's operating system.
  2. Install Drivers: Once downloaded, run the driver installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install the drivers on your laptop.

2. Verify WiFi Direct Settings:

  1. Printer Settings: On the printer's control panel, navigate to the WiFi Direct settings. Ensure that WiFi Direct is enabled and that the printer is discoverable.
  2. Laptop Settings: On your laptop, search for available WiFi networks. Look for the WiFi Direct network name (SSID) of your printer and connect to it.

3. Restart Devices:

  1. Printer: Turn off your printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
  2. Laptop: Restart your laptop to refresh the connection with the printer.

4. Use HP Smart App:

  1. Download HP Smart App: Install the HP Smart app on your laptop from the Microsoft Store or the HP website.
  2. Setup Printer: Follow the instructions in the app to set up your printer wirelessly. The app may automatically detect and install the necessary drivers.

5. Troubleshoot Connection Issues:

  1. Check Network Settings: Ensure that both your laptop and printer are connected to the same WiFi network, especially if you're using WiFi Direct.
  2. Firewall/Antivirus: Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software on your laptop that may be blocking communication with the printer.
  3. Reset Printer Network Settings: If you continue to encounter issues, you may need to reset the network settings on your printer and set it up again from scratch.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
