Does anyone have any issues with or know how to solve paper size or scaling?

I am only printing on plain A4 paper and it is stored in the tray correctly between the guides.

The default is set to A4, the documents I print are set to A4 and the printer's display shows A4.

However when printing PDFs, Word or Excel files they end up smaller with much bigger margins than shown on screen. It's like something is set to Letter size (but isn't) or the scaling is less than 100% (but isn't)

On a typical spreadsheet (which I've set in Excel to fit all columns on one page) the last row is perfectly near the bottom of the page on the file and on the print preview. However when printed the last row is about five or six rows higher up the page with a huge gap at the bottom. It looks like I could fit more printing on the page and reduce the number of pages of a multi-page spreadsheet. I've tried it on another spreadsheet which doesn't have 'fit all columns on one page' selected and obviously a Word file doesn't either but even those seem to shrink down.

Windows 11, Lenovo Thinkpad, Office 365.

Any ideas?

 Word – Document Scale

Trouble with labels and possibly with other documents that include mixed content types:

Document Scale

There is a setting in Word that will "scale" a document for Letter / A4 paper.

If you are having alignment issues with your document (for example, labels, bottom of page chopped), UNCHECK this setting.

When printing directly from within Word

Setup:

Word > FileOptions > Advanced

In Section Print (about 2/3 of the way down)

Check or UNCHECK "Scale content for A4 or 8.5 x 11" paper sizes

Click OK to save changes

@Dragon-Fur You're a star, thank you so much!

The checkbox against 'Scale to A4 or 8"' was causing the problem in both Word and Excel. I've unchecked them both and now it prints perfectly.

Much appreciated.
