I have the same problem with my HP Officejet Pro 8610. It was solved for few days only and now I suffer again. HP seems not to even try to help in solving this issue. They only chase the forum members to try and post their experience. This is not an acceptable attitude from such big company. HP should issue anew driver update that solve the installation problems with Windows 10.

Thanks to HP Phone Support PRINCE. He helped me to solve this issue and now my printer is working proberly in both USB and Wireless connections. This does not waive the HP's responsibility to publish  the required new driver that is compatible with Windows 10.

Thanks

This is a great location to get assistance! I read your post and see that you are unable to install HP OfficeJet Pro 8610 drivers. I would like to help you resolve this issue.

However, I will need a few details to provide an accurate solution,

  • Are you getting any error message while installing the driver?
  • Did you do any hardware or software changes?
  • How is the printer connected to computer, USB or wireless?

Meanwhile:

Install HP Support Assistant Software to automatically update the drivers.

Click here and refer the document to download the HP Support Assistant software.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers.

Thanks for reply.

The error messages received are:

(Windows can't install the HP Officejet Pro 8610 kernel-mode Print driver.) & ( The printer driver is not compatible with a policy enabled on your computer that blocks NT 4.0 drivers). In the devices & printers the printer driver is not available.

Firstly, I installed the HP Officejet Pro 8610 printer while using Windows 7 on my PC. Later on I upgraded to Windows 10 and the printer contiued working without any problem. Recently I had some problem with my PC and I obliged to format and reinstall Windows 10 (64bit). Since then I can't install the printer. Sometimes once connected to the PC, the printer is automatically installed as fax only.

The printer is conneted to the PC both wireless and USB.

I've tried all available HP support tools such as HP Support Assistant Software, HP scanner & Printer Doctor but no vail. I downloaded the driver software available on HP website but does not work. It can't find the connected printer same as the driver CD came with the printer.

Thanks & Regards.
