Officejet Pro 9018
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 that is just 2 months old. It is connected via Wi-Fi. The Hp Printer Assistant app on my Windows 10 Pro (v1909) laptop PC does not work - it prompts me to Connect a new device, Reconfigure Wireless Settings, or Add more software. I am using the desktop shortcut put on my desktop by the setup program to start the HP Printer Assistant.

The printer prints and scans perfectly. I use the desktop shortcut put on my desktop by the setup program to start my scans. The HP Smart app says that the printer is Ready. I can access the printer from my browser using either the IP address or the Host name. Everything seems to function normally EXCEPT the HP Printer Assistant app.

How do I get the Printer assistant to start working normally?

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.

Please Uninstall and Reinstall the FULL feature software following these steps:

1. Uninstall the software in your computer
2. Download and save the FULL feature software (do not install it online)
https://support.hp.com/sg-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-officejet-pro-9010-all-in-one-printer-...

3. Install the FULL feature “Saved” software

Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.

If you are not sure how to do this, the following resource will walk you through the steps:

Hello Greenturtle,

Thanks for your reply.

Your instructions tell me to Uninstall and Reinstall the FULL feature software and then I will be able to print and scan. Perhaps you did not read ALL of my post. I can already print and scan with no problem. In fact, everything seems to work properly EXCEPT the HP Printer Assistant - it does NOT work! I want the HP Printer assistant to work.

I downloaded the FULL feature software that you kindly provide a link to, but, what HP apps do I uninstall, or do I uninstall ALL of them? There are 9 HP apps that were installed through the setup for my Officejet 9018 printer. A screen clip of my Control Panel/Programs and Features screen is attached below.

Also, the 3 YouTube video resources that you linked to do not apply to my problem - those features already work fine on my AIO printer.

Thanks for your help.

Hi @Walter_in_Davie

We're asking to Reinstall everything.  It seems that the Printer Assistant could have been corrupted in some way and reinstallation would help restore it.

The other videos are to help use some features that people may be unware the printer has.

Thanks.

Hello again Greenturtle,

So, even though you haven't said so, I guess that you want me to uninstall everything HP and then reinstall the FULL feature software. Is that correct?

And, why do you say "We're asking to..." and then your signature says "... I am speaking for myself and not for HP."? While I do appreciate your help, I also think that you need to be a little more precise in your communications!
