With no intervening event, the driver is now unavailable. No known updates or changes to desktop or printer. I've tried MANY solutions to resolve this problem. Win10 is updated, printer firmware is current, software/driver packages have been uninstalled/reinstalled many times in various scenarios (VPN/no VPN, firewall ON/OFF, run in compatibility mode ON/OFF, etc, full package install/basic package install, HP's ScanPrint DR, just to name a few solutions). The list of what I haven't tried likely is shorter than that I have tried! I've tried several solutions from HP, Microsoft, and others. I've been in device manager, registry, windows OS files (very carefully though). Still no solution. The printer is definitely online as I can print from phones and tablets, just not the desktop. I can sign into the printer directly using its IP address. Win10 will show it as a printer to set up in settings, but driver unavailable. What next?

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

 

Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

 

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

 

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

If the issue persists, create a TCP IP port

 

1. Print a Configuration Page to get the printer's IPv4 address (you can also tap on the wireless icon on the front panel of your Printer to get the IP address)

2. On your PC, go to Control Panel, from Devices and Printers, right-click the printer and left-click Printer Properties, select the Ports tab.

3. Click Add Port, select Standard TCP/IP Port, then select New Port and follow the wizard.

4. Type in the proper IP address for the printer.
