First off, I have a brand-new Officejet Pro 9130e, not a 9120e or 9125e. While it’s probably just a newer version for the year, there’s no specific software for the 9130e, something I’ve found frustrating with HP in the past. For context, I’ve been working with computers and printers for over 40 years, so I know what I’m doing, but I still can’t get the printer to install.

I’ve spent days trying to set up this Officejet Pro 9130e on my Wi-Fi network. I’ve tried using Easy Start and HP Smart software several times with no success. Even using the IP address didn’t work, it couldn’t find the printer, though it’s clearly on the same network as my PC since I can access the EWS. Why doesn’t HP just provide the drivers anymore? After countless hours and attempts, the printer finally appeared, or so I thought. Only the printer was installed—no fax or scanner drivers. I tried adding Windows fax and scan feature, but I kept getting error messages stating it could not add it. I can print, but that’s it. I need to send faxes directly from applications like Microsoft Word, but the fax printer (e.g., “HP Officejet Pro 9130e Fax”) doesn’t show up in my printer list. I also need the ability to scan to my PC and to email. I’ve reinstalled, run as administrator, and checked Windows features, but the fax and scan driver still won’t install or appear. Since the Officejet Pro 9130e is certified for WPP, I know that’s not the issue.

  1. Can you confirm if PC-Fax functionality is supported by Windows 11?
  2. Can you confirm if scan-to-email and to PC functionality are supported by Windows 11?
  3. If so, how can I manually install the fax and scanner drivers or enable these features?

Thank you in advance for your time and help in this matter.

Sincerely,

Marc Myers

Hi @FerRX

I had already tried all of that, but I went ahead and uninstalled all HP software, I did a registry clean and edit, rebooted, removed the printer from Windows MPP, rebooted again, ran another registry clean and edit and rebooted again. I then followed your step-by-step installation. The HPEasyStart software still failed in locating the printer even thought is online and on my Wi-Fi network. I then tried to see if Add device would install the printer and it did with no problem. So, I continued with your step-by-step instructions and the scanner and fax software installed. I still can't fax from my computer, but the scan to pc and email did work.

I'm at a complete loss as to what the hell is going on with this printer. Think it might be bad, and I may just return it and try something else. I have spent more time trying to set this printer up than probably all the time installing printers over the last 40 years. And now the paper tray sensor has gone bad or so I think since it now constantly says paper tray is open. Just think this is a defective printer.   ☹️

Thanks for trying but at this point I'm just going to return it.
