HP OfficeJet Pro 9132e All-in-One Printer

I’m having an issue with my OfficeJet Pro 9132e printer. Whenever I print a document from Word, the printer driver defaults to Letter size, even though I’m using A4 paper.

What I’ve Checked:

  • Word’s print settings correctly show A4 as the paper size.
  • However, the printer driver still displays Letter.
  • I have already set A4 as the default everywhere:
    • In the default printer settings
    • In the tray settings
    • Both in the driver and the web interface of the printer
    • And anywhere else I could find.

Temporary Workaround:

  • If I change the paper size in Word print settings to something else, then switch back to A4, the printer driver updates to A4.
  • However, the driver still defaults to Letter the next time I print.

Additional Info:

  • My previous Canon printer didn’t have this issue—Word and the driver always used A4 correctly.
  • I searched online and found many reports of this issue dating back to 2015, but no real solution.

Has anyone found a fix for this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Not sure if there is anything I can add --

There are indeed limited places to adjust the paper size.

Examples - Ignore if checked / set

  • Printer Control Panel  or  EWS - Tray and Paper and Default Print Options
  • Printer Preferences - Shortcut = General Everyday Printing -- Optionally Edit and Save changes as a Custom Shortcut -- Leave the preferred Shortcut as selected -- Apply / OK to set in place
  • Printer Properties - Select Default Shortcut for all jobs
  • Word - Document Scale

Word - Document Scale

Trouble with labels and possibly with other documents that include mixed content types:

Document Scale

There is a setting in Word that will "scale" a document for Letter / A4 paper.

If you are having alignment issues with your document (for example, labels, bottom of page chopped), UNCHECK this setting.

When printing directly from within Word

Setup:

Word > FileOptions > Advanced

In Section Print (about 2/3 of the way down)

Check or UNCHECK "Scale content for A4 or 8.5 x 11" paper sizes

Click OK to save changes
