HP Officejet Pro 8620
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, I uninstalled Windows11 due to resource issues and when I restored Windows 10, everything worked except the Officepro 8620 printer. Windows provided a message : "The driver cannot be installed because it is either not digitally signed or not signed in the appropriate manner. Contact your hardware vendor."

I have tried many times and ways to delete all drivers and reinstall. I have even tried deleting at root level . I have tried running SFC but to no avail. Anyone had this issue?

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue.

Let's try these steps to resolve the issue:

Root level uninstall and reinstall printer drivers:

  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

To reinstall, click here.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Your instructions got the printer back to "Ready" state as default printer but still cannot print due to same error.

Let's restore the printer to the original factory settings

  • 1. From the printer control panel display, touch and slide your finger across the screen and then touch Setup.
  • 2. Touch Tools.
  • 3. Touch Restore Factory Defaults, and then touch Yes. A message appears stating that the printer defaults have been restored.
  • 4. Touch OK

Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thxs for the instructions but after following them, still no printing. I restarted the  router, device and uninstalled and reinstalled full drivers using HP Smart and again, the printer is there in Ready state but just says there is a problem with the printer setup. I am able to scan from the printer to the computer but just can't print.

Thxs for your patience & help.

Sorry Echo_Lake but it still doesn't want to print. Is there anything else we can try? Still comes up with "Word can't print due to problem with printer setup". Have tried again to use HP Print Doctor but it just goes around in circles and ends up with no solution.

Hi, Does this mean anything? I looked at Device Manager, Printer, Properties and then the tab "Events". The last entry was 19/12/2021 which might be around when I did the Win10 restore but not certain.

"Device install requested"

"Device SWD\PRINTENUM\WSD-cca82de4-05b2-4c37-b188-40340f30efb8 requires further installation."

Hi Echo_lake. I see the driver version I am trying to download was updated on Dec 6 2012. Is there an earlier version I could try in case there is a bug in the latest version?
