Officeject Pro 6830
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Where I live is fairly long from back to front and therefore I have to use powerline adapters with wifi access points to create the coverage I need. This is fine for 100% of every other device in the house, EXCEPT for the Officejet Pro 6830 which refuses to join the wifi. I have tried EVERYTHING to get this to work. I have split bands (2.4GHz and 5GHz) and used different SSIDs. I have locked 2.4GHz to channel 1. I have turned off 5GHz. I have turned of all AP except the ISP router (loosing coverage I need). I have tried all different security settings (WEP, WPA etc.). Nothing works. I have now added another powerline adapter so that I can use the ethernet port to hard-wire the printer. I notice that there are many many posts on the internet about HP printers and the fact they do not work with wifi. Frankly this is unacceptable.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

This Printer supports 2.4 GHz networks only.

Let's reset the network here:

1. From the printer control panel, touch Setup . 2. Touch Network Setup. 3. Touch Restore Network Settings. 4. A message appears stating that the network defaults will be restored. Touch Yes. 5. Print the network configuration page and verify that the network settings have been reset.

Once done, connect the Printer to the Wi-Fi.

Let me know if this helps.

@Betty0610 - Thanks for your reply.

unfortunately no, this does not work. It appears that the printer will not attach to a wireless access point if there are multiple SSIDs in range. I don't know what testing HP did on this product but from my experience it was not tested in 'real world' conditions.

Let's try a firmware update: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02919168

Hi - I logged into the printer's web portal and the firmware details are as attached.

I also clicked the firmware update 'Check Now' button and the response was "The printer is up to date."

We'll have to perform a reset on the Printer for this. I have sent you a private message, for more details that cannot be shared in a public post.

Please do check your inbox on the forums page for the private message.
